Western Conference on British Studies
While we prepare for our conference next week, here are some information tidbits that might come in handy:
Parking
Participants are encouraged to park at the Highland Street Parking Garage at UNT. You will need to pay for parking, but it is covered and conveniently located near the Student Union (where we are hosting the conference). I have attached a file with arrows showing where the parking garage is and the direction (marked with a red arrow) you will head to reach the Student Union. Basically, once you head out of the garage, look for W Highland Street (on your left/right- depending on which exit you are taking). Once you cross the street, you head straight towards the Student Union (it will be on your left - hard to miss).
Information about the Union (panel rooms, meditation and lactation rooms, coffee/tea options and snack options)
See below for a Student Union building info map (labeled as Marked UNT map). I tried to mark in red the important rooms and other things that might be of need.

First, I have circled all the rooms where we will have our panels, a keynote luncheon, and a reception. I have tried to book all the conference-related rooms on the same floor and close by, so they are pretty well-contained and easy to spot.

Second, I have also marked the lactation and meditation rooms @Student Union, if one of us needs access to those rooms

Third, we will have tea/coffee at lunch. But throughout the conference, if you need any beverages, you can find them at:

Jamba Juice on the first floor or Verde Everyday on the second floor (for tea and coffee - this is right next to Burger King and opposite Krunch Chicken). Unfortunately, we used to have a Starbucks at the Student Union, but it closed this July.

For sodas and snacks, we have the Union food court (some great options there), Chick-fil-A, Mia's, Torchy's Tacos, Burger King, and a few others.)

Registration
Registration will start at 8:00 AM on the third floor of the Student Union in front of Room 339.
Since this is a one-day conference, Registration will only be available between 8:00 and 8:25 AM. If you are running late, please let us know so we can get things sorted for you.
Presentations
If you have PowerPoints for your papers, please bring them on a USB stick. Every room has a projector/screen, and you can plug in your USB sticks.
Accessibility
The Student Union has elevators. So, should you need/wish to use an elevator, you can find them on every floor.
Food
I have made sure to order veg and non-veg food for our lunch and reception. But if you have any other dietary restrictions/allergies, please let us know by this week.
