Forest Park
This large public park was the host of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904. It is filled with interesting sites and activities including the St. Louis Art Museum, the Missouri History Museum, the St. Louis Science Center and the St. Louis Zoo in addition to walks, boat rentals, sculpture gardens, and more.

Ulysses Grant National Historic Site
Aside from touring the house and grounds of the White Haven home, there is a 22-minute film and an interesting museum about Ulysses Grant and his family. Admission is free. Nearby is Grant's Farm, owned by the Busch family, which offers animal attractions and beer samples.

Old Courthouse and Gateway Arch
The Old Courthouse is newly reopened to visitors and features many exhibits on various topics including the Dred Scott case. The courthouse is below the Gateway Arch. Here you can visit the Museum under the Gateway Arch (free admission) and even take a Tram to the Top.

Just across the Mississippi River are the remains of the impressive city of Cahokia.
